Cape Coast Castle

Overlooking the gulf of Guinea Cape Coast Castle located in Ghana west Africa is a large whitewashed fort built by the Swedish in the 17th century. It was later used by the British as a holding prison for enslaved Africans. Countless enslaved Africans died inside Cape Coast castle dungeons from sickness and disease due to vile, unthinkable living conditions. English captives lived above the dungeons in luxury.
