People of color in poverty tend to have levels of overall debt, relative to their incomes, 20 to 25 per cent higher than those of the population as a whole. The persistent racial wealth gap leaves black people in an economically precarious situation and creates a vicious cycle of economic struggle. Factor in anti-black racism and oppression and we can clearly see the reason why the majority of black people don’t have the managerial experience, credit, or cash requirement to secure a franchise business. We are looking to partner with franchisors that are willing to provide flexible franchising terms to our reparation sponsorship recipients for the purposes of helping black people become entrepreneurs.
